Vooki Pro vs. Burp Suite: Which DAST tool fits your workflow?

Vooki Pro is a desktop DAST scanner with local, on-device AI-assisted triage for web applications and REST APIs. Burp Suite is PortSwigger's web security toolkit, split across two distinct products: Burp Suite Professional (manual-first desktop pentesting with an on-demand scanner) and Burp Suite DAST (PortSwigger's separate automation-focused product). This page compares Vooki Pro against both, specifically and separately — the two aren't interchangeable, and conflating them is the most common mistake in this comparison.

"Start 7-Day Trial" submits a request — Vooki Pro's team reviews it and sends the trial license and installation instructions; it is not an instant self-serve activation.

Vooki Pro's 6-step guided wizard walks you through target, discovery, auth, policy, schedule and review in one flow. Burp's scan launcher is a single dialog, with scope and login setup configured separately beforehand.

Vooki Pro's AI triage (ThreatLens) runs entirely offline on your machine after a one-time model download. Burp AI requires a live connection to PortSwigger's hosted AI platform — confirmed "not currently" usable offline — and is metered by a credit balance (10,000 free credits, expiring 12 months after purchase).

Burp Suite Professional's own report export is HTML and XML only — no PDF, DOCX or compliance-mapped reports; those exist only in the separate DAST product. Vooki Pro ships four standard formats and seven compliance-mapped reports in one license.

Who switches

Who considers switching

  • Teams who want one guided workflow instead of determining upfront whether a task needs Burp Suite Professional (manual/on-demand) or Burp Suite DAST (automation).
  • Testers who want web and REST API scanning configured in the same scan policy.
  • Organizations that want AI-assisted triage without a live connection to a third-party AI platform or a credits balance to manage.
  • Teams whose deliverable is a compliance-mapped report rather than a general finding list — Burp Suite Professional does not produce one natively.
  • Buyers who'd rather compare one predictable annual price than choose between a $499/seat desktop tool and a separately-quoted automation product.

"Not verified in the reviewed documentation" means the capability was not confirmed in official sources at the time of writing — it does not mean the capability is absent.

In practice

The practical differences that matter

Guided setup vs. a toolkit

Vooki Pro's wizard asks for your target, discovery approach, authentication, scan policy, and schedule in sequence, ending in a review screen before anything runs. Burp's scan launcher is a single dialog, but it assumes scope and login sequences are already configured elsewhere in the app — a reasonable workflow for testers already fluent in Burp, more setup overhead for a new tester or a team standardizing a repeatable process.

Where AI runs, and what that means for sensitive scan traffic

ThreatLens downloads a local language model (Qwen3-8B, 4-bit quantized GGUF, ~5GB) once, with a resumable download and a mirror fallback, and runs entirely on your CPU or GPU after that — no scan traffic leaves your machine for AI analysis, and scans still run on rule-based detection alone if the model isn't downloaded. Burp AI's own capabilities page states customer data "stays within PortSwigger's secure AI platform" and that offline use is "not currently" supported. For teams where scan traffic itself is sensitive — session tokens, internal hostnames, personal data surfaced in responses — this is a documented architectural difference, not a marketing one.

Report formats are not equivalent between Burp's two products

This is worth stating plainly because it's easy to assume Burp Suite Professional inherits DAST's reporting: it doesn't. Professional's own report-settings documentation confirms only HTML and XML export — no PDF, no DOCX, and no compliance-framework mapping. Compliance-ready output (OWASP Top 10 2025, PCI DSS v4.0.1) exists only in Burp Suite DAST, a separately licensed product from Professional.

One product, one price, versus two products and two decisions

PortSwigger itself frames Professional and DAST as solving different problems — manual/on-demand testing versus organization-wide scheduled automation. Vooki Pro doesn't require that upfront choice: guided automated scanning, scheduling, and compliance reporting live in the same license.

Platform & licensing

Deployment, data handling, licensing

Vooki Pro

Runs on your machine. Applications, scans, findings and reports are stored in a local database; scan data is never uploaded. Scanning needs no internet beyond the target — but the license re-validates roughly once a day while online (about a week of offline tolerance), and the one-time ThreatLens download (~5GB) needs a connection.

Burp Suite Professional

Desktop application; project data is stored locally in files you manage yourself. $499/year per seat.

Burp Suite DAST

PortSwigger-hosted cloud, self-hosted (AWS/Azure/GCP/Kubernetes), or CI-container-only. Even self-hosted deployments reach portswigger.net:443 for license activation. Quote-based.

Support

Vooki Pro includes a support portal and email with the license; no SLA is documented. PortSwigger's support model for either Burp product is not covered in the sources reviewed for this page.

Decision guide

Who should choose which

Choose Vooki Pro if

You want one tool covering guided web + API scanning, scheduled automation, compliance reporting, and local AI triage under one annual per-domain price, and you'd rather sensitive scan traffic never leave your machine.

Choose Burp Suite Professional if

Your team's core workflow is hands-on, manual penetration testing — Burp's Repeater, Intruder, and Proxy form a widely-used, deeply capable manual toolkit, and the on-demand scanner is a secondary feature inside that workflow.

Choose Burp Suite DAST if

You need organization-wide scheduled scanning across many applications with centralized dashboards and multi-user management at scale, and you're prepared for a separate, quote-priced product from your manual testing license.

FAQ

Common questions

Is Vooki Pro an alternative to Burp Suite?
Yes, for automated DAST scanning of web applications and REST APIs. Burp Suite Professional is primarily a manual pentesting toolkit with an on-demand scanner; Burp Suite DAST is PortSwigger's separate automation product. Vooki Pro combines guided automated scanning with local AI triage in one desktop license.
Does Vooki Pro support REST API scanning like Burp Suite?
Yes. Both Burp Suite products and Vooki Pro support importing API definitions and running automated checks against them.
Does Vooki Pro's AI run locally?
Yes — ThreatLens runs entirely on-device after a one-time model download, with no scan data sent to a third-party AI service. Burp AI, by PortSwigger's own documentation, requires a live connection to their cloud AI platform and currently cannot be used offline.
Can Burp Suite Professional generate compliance reports like Vooki Pro?
Not currently, based on PortSwigger's own report-settings documentation — Professional exports HTML and XML only. Compliance-mapped reports (OWASP Top 10, PCI DSS) exist in Burp Suite DAST, a separate product.
Is there a free trial, and how does it work?
Yes — Vooki Pro offers a 7-day trial with every feature unlocked and no credit card required. Submitting the trial request starts a short review by Vooki Pro's team, who then send the trial license and installation instructions — it isn't an instant activation.
Unverified, explicitly not claimed: Burp Suite DAST's AI eligibility either way; Burp Suite Professional's CI/CD compatibility either way; the literal "per seat/per year" phrase on PortSwigger's own pricing page (the $499 figure itself is first-party confirmed).
